Sundeep Kishan is quite busy these days with a number of films in hand. He has two releases lined up this month. ‘Mahesh’, which is the dubbed version of ‘Yaaruda Mahesh’, will be releasing on the 20th and ‘D.K.Bose’ will be releasing on the 27th. Sundeep Kishan interacted with members of the press today, for a brief conversation. Read on to see what he had to say.
Q. How did you get your Tamil film offer?
A. I grew up in Chennai. So I feel comfortable with the language. I worked as an assistant director with Gautham Menon. After ‘Shor in the City’, a lot of people wanted to make films with me. But I ended up making my entry in Telugu with a negative role. I was looking for a suitable film for my Tamil entry when Madan narrated the script. I enjoyed it. After a day’s gap, I okayed the film.
Q. What can you tell us about your role in the film?
A. I play the role of Siva, an irresponsible fellow with a carefree attitude. In other words, my character will be similar to Aravind Krishna’s character in ‘7/G Brindavan Colony’. Throughout the film, I keep searching for a guy named Mahesh. The film is a hilarious entertainer.
Q. Does ‘Mahesh’ fall into the adult comedy genre?
A. The film will be like American Pie. There are no foul dialogues in the movie. Because of the situations and certain scenes, you may get the feel of an adult comedy.
Q. Will you act in Tamil and Hindi films?
A. If I get good roles, I will act. But right now, my focus is completely on Telugu films. In Telugu I will act in commercial films but in Hindi, I want to try experimental films. I am not appearing in any Tamil and Hindi films this year.
Q. You have two releases in a span of a week. Considering your market, is it not a problem?
A. I was quite apprehensive initially. But I realised that a film’s collections are dependant on the first week only. Anything that comes in after that is a bonus. If people like the film, they will watch it.
Q. What happened to D for Dopidi?
A. The first copy of this movie is getting ready. Raj and D.K. are the producers of this movie. They are currently busy with a Saif Ali Khan film and that is the reason why the film got delayed. They have now shifted attention back to this movie and it will release soon.
Q. Do you have any dream roles?
A. Yeah I do. I want to do films Gharshana, Arya, Jagadam. I also have a list of dream directors.I would love to work with Sukumar, Selvaraghavan, Goutham Menon, Rajamouli, Puri Jagan and Krishna Vamsi.
Q. Do you have directorial ambitions?
A. No. Direction requires a lot of talent and I am not that talented. I need to prove myself as an actor first and there is still a long way to go.
Q. What can viewers expect from ‘Mahesh’?
A. Viewers can expect a 2 hour laugh riot from ‘Mahesh’. In fact, Jagan has a crucial role in this movie and his character is actually the hero of the film.
With that, we wrapped up our conversation with Sundeep Kishan.
