Young hero, Sundeep Kishan is quite excited about the release of his new project Okka Ammayi Tappa. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q) Why did the film take so long to materialize ?

The script came to me during the making of Venkatadri Express and I got connected to it right away. Things were looking bleak as no one was believing in our concept and wanted to produce such a risky subject. Whenever we sat with producers and narrated the dynamics, we did not get a positive feedback. But after years of persistence. we finally found a producer and took this film on floors.

Q) Is that the reason you did not take any remuneration ?

There had to be somebody to lead from the front and be ready to sacrifice. I took that risk and said to the producers to pay me my remuneration only if the film clicks. By doing so, we convinced many to come on board. Finally, everything what we have done is only to encourage good cinema.

Q) Looks like you have a lot of attachment with this film ?

Yes ! OAT is one my best films till date. I feel proud that I was associated with such a project. It was the most difficult film that I shot for and everything in this project is straight from the heart.

Q) Since the story was written a long time back what changes did you make ?

Script wise, we did not change much. Previously, it was Begumpet flyover and now it is the Hitech City one.

Q) How did Nithya Menen come into picture ?

Right from the day one, she was our first choice. Somehow, things did not work and we confirmed another heroine. But destiny had other plans and we somehow contacted Nithya and gave a detailed narration after which she accepted to do the film right away.

Q) Nithya is a highly skilled actress. Did you feel dominated anywhere during the filming stages ?

No ! not at all. As my character is very strong in the film, I never faced any such problems and had the best working experience with her.

Q) Why is she not promoting the film ?

Currently, she is shooting for her Kannada project with Sudeep and will join the promotions once the film releases.

Q) What is this film all about ?

The film is set amidst the hitech city fly over which is under a bomb scare. How two different individuals played by me and Nithya meet each other in this tricky situation and what happens next is the whole story about.

Q) How difficult was it shooting for such a project ?

As the film was set on the flyover, we managed to shoot only five days in the real location. Rest of it, a huge set was laid and we shot most of the film with hundreds of junior artists daily. The shooting process was a huge pain and certain things which we could not manage were covered with VFX work.

Q) How crucial is this film for your career ?

I am in happy space right now and every film of mine is hugely important for my career. Right from the beginning, I had just a dream of meeting director Krishna Vamsi and now, I am doing a film with him. Life has come a full circle and I am very happy with what I have achieved so far.

Q) How is that film shaping up ?

I just started shooting for the film which is being made on a huge canvas. I am living a dream working with him and am making the most of it.

Q) Your future projects ?

I have two Tamil films lined up for release which will also be dubbed in Telugu. One is with Regina and the other has Lavanya. As of now, my concentration is completely on Okka Ammayi Tappa and I hope this film entertains everyone.
