Published on Mar 7, 2022 3:00 pm IST

South Indian hero Suriya-starrer latest movie, Evariki Thalvanchadu is up for a grand release in theaters on March 10, 2022. On this occasion, we met with the star actor for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

Tell us about ET?

The core point of Evariki Thalavanchaku (ET) is taken from the happenings around us in society. If relatives come to our house, we ask the girl but not the boy to give them water. In the same way, people tell wives to adjust if minor differences crop up with husbands. The director included such sensitive issues in the movie.

There will be no inappropriate scenes anywhere. ET has a strong social message about women along with the mass commercial elements. Pandiraj portrayed entertainment and emotions very well. I hope the current generation will be well connected to this movie and my fans will like it for sure.

Tell us about the villain in this movie?

In Telugu, director SS Rajamouli and his father give elevations to villains very well. Like them, director Pandiraj also designed the antagonist character, played by Vinay Rai, in a unique and powerful way.

Did you dub for ET’s Telugu version?

Yes, I dubbed for ET in Telugu. Pandiraj said that I enjoyed the Telugu dubbing more than the Tamil dubbing. We made small changes to Telugu to make the dialogues more appealing.

How did you feel when Jai Bhim was selected for the Oscars?

I am so happy. Jai Bhim went to the Oscars. Many admired the film even though it did not get the award. Nearly 3,000 movies get nominated and will be watched by the jury at the Oscars. Even people from Calcutta called to compliment me.

What’s your take on releasing movies on OTT?

There have been major changes in the field of cinema during and post-pandemic. The arrival of OTT gave a big boost to producers. New directors, writers, new stories came to light. After the Pandemic, My last two movies, Aakaasam Nee Haddhura and Jai Bhim were released on OTT and won accolades. Pushpa and Bheemla Nayak have also been released in theatres and garnered good collections. Thus, the conditions are conducive for the films to become big business.

Future Projects?

There are a few movies in the pipeline. I am doing a film with director Bala. I also have Vaadivasal with Vetrimaaran. There must be at least 500 artists for each shot. That is why it was not possible in corona time. We are planning to launch it in June.
