Interview : Vishwaksen – Das Ka Dhamki performed way above our expectations

Vishwaksen’s Das Ka Dhamki is off to a flying start at the box office. This Vishwaksen’s directorial is a commercial entertainer and has Nivetha Pethuraj as the lead actress. Karate Raju produced this film under Vanmaye Creations and Vishwaksen Cinemas banners. Rao Ramesh, Hyper Aadi, Jabardast Mahesh, Rohini, and Prithviraj played key roles. As the movie opened to a superb response at the ticket windows, Vishwaksen interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.

How are you celebrating the success of Das Ka Dhamki?

Das Ka Dhamki performed way above our expectations. The movie fetched the best openings in my career. The film raked in about 8 crores, 88 lakhs gross. I need to see the range of success. We have a target in our minds and will celebrate after achieving it.

How did you feel as you took the responsibility of acting, directing, and producing the film?

There will be stress, obviously. We were at risk because we didn’t sell the theatrical rights for a safe price. I like to act, direct, and produce. But there will be immense pressure when it comes to production. There won’t be any pressure during the shoot, but there will be a lot of tension during the release. Also, we have put everything into this movie which is ten times more than Faluknama Das.

Did you have the idea about part 2 from the beginning?

A producer takes the first draft from a writer. After that, it is up to the producer to decide on the number of drafts a film should have. The producer can also work with many writers until he gets what he wants. This is the usual style in Hollywood. Das Ka Dhamki is the second draft. I bought the first draft from Bezawada Prasanna Kumar. He wrote it as an out-and-out comedy entertainer. I changed it into an action thriller. I penned the second character’s back story, whose world is very vast. The other character will have more prominence in part 2.

When will you wield the megaphone again?

I signed four projects, and I need to wrap them. After those films, I will do the direction. Faluknama Das and Dhamki 2 are on cards. But I can’t say which project will release first.

When will Das Ka Dhamki release in other languages?

The Hindi and Malayalam versions are ready. We are aiming for April 14 release in Hindi. We will release the other versions one by one. There is no need for urgency, and we also need to focus on promotions.

What are your upcoming projects?

Currently, I am doing a film with Sithara Vamsi Garu and another project under the production of Ram Talluri Garu. After these two, there will be a film in my own banner. Gaami is ready to hit the screens.
