Aadarsha Kutumbam, The Paradise & more: What’s going wrong with the industry?

Aadarsha Kutumbam’s sudden postponement has come as a massive shock to Venkatesh and Trivikram fans, who expected the film to come out this Friday. The makers are in such a position that they couldn’t even announce a new release date.

During the press meet, Naga Vamsi revealed some crucial details that explain the poor planning that has been going on in the industry for some time. He stated that they are working round the clock and that they had no time to watch the film themselves before showing it to the public.

Naga Vamsi also mentioned that he himself has no idea when the first copy would be ready and added that two more songs are still pending. He also made it clear that the final copy couldn’t be delivered on time if they were to release the trailer and go ahead with an October 9 release. Despite the pending work, the team kept stating multiple times that they would make it to October 9 and ultimately backed out.

Had the Aadarsha Kutumbam makers informed the industry about the development a little earlier, some other mid- or small-budget film could have occupied that date, but that hasn’t happened now. Naga Vamsi himself accepted that there is huge indiscipline in the industry, and this is something that we shouldn’t be boasting about.

He further stated that they were worried about the online backlash, which also contributed to the decision to postpone the film. Keeping the criticism in mind is fine, but that alone cannot be attributed to the delay, which actually happened due to lack of planning.

A few days earlier, we saw a similar situation with The Paradise, for which the director and music composer kept working until the last minute, sacrificing their food and sleep in the process, ultimately resulting in a below-par product. A few months ago, Nagarjuna publicly spoke about the kind of negligence present in the industry, referring to Lenin’s multiple postponements.

These are not once-in-a-while incidents anymore, and the industry cannot keep operating this way, with teams working until the 11th hour and release dates being shuffled casually. It’s high time filmmakers became more professional, planned their productions well in advance, and respected the deadlines they commit to.
