A financial dispute has landed Tamil actor Arya in legal trouble after the Jubilee Hills police in Hyderabad registered a criminal case against him and his production team. The case follows a formal complaint by Taher Cine Technic, a Film Nagar-based cinema equipment company, alleging systemic non-payment for services rendered. The police have launched an official investigation into the matter to verify the claims.
The conflict centres on the movie Ananthan Kadu, for which Arya’s team rented high-end digital cameras and specialised lighting equipment. According to the vendor, the equipment was shipped to Kerala at their own expense, where the crew used it to complete the shoot. The complainant alleges that despite the production being completed, the film team failed to clear the dues, leaving an outstanding balance of Rs. 1.80 crore.
The matter turned criminal after the vendor’s attempts to recover the payment were allegedly met with hostility and personal threats. The complainant further alleged that Arya, producer Vinod, and an assistant named Kishore intimidated them when asked to settle the dues. Consequently, the Jubilee Hills police booked the trio on charges of cheating and criminal intimidation, and an investigation is underway.
