Bollywood war action drama Ikkis, headlined by Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, got off to a fair start at the box office, earning over Rs. 7 crores nett. The movie, which hit the screens on January 1, received positive reviews from critics, but surprisingly, it lost its momentum later.

A usual drop after a holiday is expected, but the film couldn’t match its opening day collections during the weekend either. In its four-day first weekend, Ikkis collected about Rs. 21 crores nett. On the first Monday, Ikkis witnessed a sharp decline at the ticket windows. According to trade reports, Ikkis earned less than Rs. 2 crores nett on Monday, which is disappointing for a film with good reports.

The movie marked the final on-screen appearance of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away recently. Ikkis is helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. Bankrolled by Maddock Films, the film is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and revolves around the Battle of Basantar during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
