Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited Akhanda 2 hit the big screens yesterday. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the film has received mixed reviews from critics. Unlike the first part, Akhanda 2 had a PAN-India release.
In North America, the film collected $452K from premieres. Since the release date was announced suddenly, it became a herculean task for the distributor to secure shows. However, the buyer managed to lock in a decent number of screens and shows despite the last-minute announcement.
As per the latest update, Akhanda 2 collected around $93K on day 1, taking the total collections to $545K so far. Going by the trend, the film is expected to gross around $900K by the end of the first weekend. It remains to be seen whether the film can exceed expectations in this territory.
