All eyes on Tiger 3 openings; Also here is why makers opted for a Sunday release
Published on Nov 10, 2023 1:00 am IST

Pre-Diwali has always been a dull period for Hindi films. History tells the same as the business of films was hit severely during Pre-Diwali. The makers of Tiger 3 decided to release the film on the day of Diwali, which is Sunday, November 12. It is also the day Laxmi Puja is observed in many parts of North India, and hence, the collections would drop post-afternoon shows. The Laxmi Puja effect is negligible in the southern states and overseas, and these markets become a key for Tiger 3 opening.

As said earlier, releasing the film on Saturday or Friday (Pre-Diwali) in India isn’t a great idea. November 13, i.e., Monday, is a good date for the domestic market, but doing so will affect the overseas numbers completely. But Sunday release would also restrict the collections in overseas markets where Saturday is the best day for films. Hence, YRF came up with a smart idea as they decided to go ahead with early release (November 11, Saturday) in key international markets.

In these circumstances, all eyes are on the openings of this spy action thriller. The bookings are decent for this Salman starrer, and trade is expecting around 35-40 crores nett from India as the Laxmi Puja takes a toll on the evening shows.

The collections will see an increase from Monday as post-Diwali is excellent for films in North India. The initial reviews and word of mouth are very important for Tiger 3 to go near the lifetime domestic collections of SRK’s Pathaan. Let’s see how Tiger 3 fares at the box office.
