Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran is a massive blockbuster at the ticket windows, grossing about Rs. 330 crores. The movie, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadharajan, featured dancing Sai Pallavi as the female lead. The Telugu version also turned out to be a huge success, and it even dominated the straight Telugu films Lucky Baskhar and KA, which was completely unexpected.
The Telugu version once again did the unthinkable by registering a solid 9.19 TRP on its first telecast. Lately, TRPs have come down due to the vast growth in the OTT market, and in a scenario like this, Amaran received a blasting response on small screens. Amaran’s TRP is way higher than that of Telugu blockbusters like Salaar, Kalki, and Waltair Veerayya.
This goes on to show that Sivakarthikeyan is rapidly gaining acceptance from the Telugu audience. Rajkumar Periasamy of Rangoon fame directed this patriotic film, while the legendary Kamal Haasan produced it. GV Prakash Kumar composed the tunes.
