It is not uncommon for actors to miss out on films that eventually become either blockbusters or box-office disappointments. Actor Sumanth recently revealed that he let go of not one, but two Telugu films that later went on to become major hits.
During the promotions of his upcoming film Newton’s 3rd Law, Sumanth shared that he was originally considered for Nuvve Kavali (2000), which was later headlined by Tarun and emerged as an industry hit.
Recalling how he missed the opportunity, Sumanth said producer Sravanthi Ravi Kishore had approached him for the project. However, he was already committed to Yuvakudu and Pelli Sambandham, making it impossible to accommodate the dates. As a result, he had to pass on the film, a decision he now regrets.
Sumanth also revealed that he was once narrated the story of Desamuduru, which was eventually made with Allu Arjun in the lead and played a key role in strengthening the latter’s image as a mass hero. Looking back, he added that he believes the film may not have had the same impact if he had played the lead role.
While Nuvve Kavali and Desamuduru turned out to be major milestones for the actors who starred in them, Sumanth’s candid reflections offered an interesting glimpse into the opportunities he missed during his career.
