In 2025, director Ram Gopal Varma announced Syndicate, a crime action drama. Since then, there have been no official updates apart from the debunking of earlier casting rumours. However, fresh speculation is now circulating.

Aditya Dhar, known for his Dhurandhar films, is currently among the most sought-after directors in India. According to industry buzz, he may be backing the production of Syndicate.

The speculation has gained traction following Varma’s recent meeting with Dhar and his praise for Dhurandhar 2 on social media. There are also claims that Dhar could be contributing to the script, though this remains unconfirmed.

Reports further suggest that the film may feature a mix of actors from South India and Mumbai. No official confirmation has been issued so far.

Syndicate is said to draw inspiration from the rise of organisations such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS, exploring the recurring nature of crime and terror. Set in a near-future India, it focuses on a powerful criminal network formed by an alliance of political forces, law enforcement, wealthy businessmen, and the military.

RGV has indicated that the film will emphasise the consequences of human actions, moving away from supernatural elements and focusing on themes of power, greed, and corruption. Further details, including production timelines, are awaited.
