Bollywood, after the pandemic, has been struggling with regard to content. There was a lot of confusion as to what kind of films to be made. The industry came up with many remakes which have bitten the dust. Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 was the only remake to succeed post-pandemic. Even the remakes of Telugu hits like Jersey, HIT, and Ala Vaikuntapurramulo failed miserably at the box office. Next week Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa, the remake of Kaithi, is releasing.
Now there is one more remake lined up for release on April 7th. Titled Gumraah, the movie is the official remake of Tamil superhit Thadam which had Arun Vijay in the lead role. To note, Ram Pothineni remade this movie in Telugu as Red which garnered mixed responses. Gumraah stars Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead role.
Sita Ramam beauty Mrunal Thakur essays the police inspector role, which was played by Vidya Pradeep and Nivetha Pethuraj in Tamil and Telugu languages, respectively. The Hindi remake is directed by Vardhan Ketkar. At a time when remakes are not working in the Hindi industry, the theatrical release is definitely a daring move from the makers. Let’s see how the film fares at the box office.
