Megastar Chiranjeevi was bestowed with the Indian Film Personality of the Year at the 53rd International Film Festival of India, which happened in Goa. Besides him, many actors graced the closing ceremony.
During the event, Chiranjeevi expressed his gratitude to the entire industry and his ardent fans. “I thank IFFI and the Government of India for giving me this award and great honour. Few recognitions will have a special value, and this award is one such,” said the star hero.
He noted, “I have been always grateful to my parents for giving me birth as Siva Shankara Vara Prasad and to the TFI for giving me birth as Chiranjeevi.” He also said comically that the young heroes are not his competitors but he is the real competitor to them.
Chiru recalled an incident and stated he felt bad for having no South Indian actor’s picture at an event. But, today he felt grateful for receiving this honour from the Government.
He said that whatever the language is, it should be termed as Indian cinema as the boundaries have vanished. He concluded the speech by saying, ” I promise my fans that I will never leave the film industry.”
