The surge in advance sales mirrors the film’s global hype and underlines the immense anticipation surrounding Nolan’s latest cinematic event. Written and directed by the acclaimed filmmaker, The Odyssey is the largest adaptation of Homer’s epic poem in cinema history. Mounted on a massive $250 million budget, it is also the first feature film ever shot entirely on next generation IMAX 70mm film cameras.
The star studded ensemble features Matt Damon in the lead role, alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson. The film is a major collaboration between Universal Pictures and Nolan’s production banner, Syncopy Inc.
Set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 17, 2026, The Odyssey has a confirmed runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes and carries an R rating. Academy Award winner Ludwig Göransson has composed the score, continuing his successful collaboration with Nolan.
