Telugu actor Shivaji recently landed in controversy after his moral policing comments about heroines and their dressing went viral on social media. They drew strong objections from members of the film industry and women alike. The remarks were made at the pre-release event of his upcoming film Dhandoraa last night. Many criticised his words, saying they were offensive and hurt the sentiments of women.
A major uproar erupted online over Shivaji’s comments, and a complaint was also lodged against him with the MAA (Movie Artists Association). Following this, Shivaji released a video apologising for his insensitive remarks. He stated that he has always held great respect for women and explained that his comments were made with good intentions after seeing some heroines face difficulties in certain situations.
However, he admitted that his choice of words was inappropriate and expressed regret for using unparliamentary language. With this, the controversy appears to have come to an end. Meanwhile, Dhandoraa, starring Shivaji, Navdeep, and Bindu Madhavi in key roles, is set for a grand theatrical release on December 25 as a Christmas treat.
