Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram hit the screens yesterday amidst humongous expectations and hoopla. The family drama is directed by Trivikram. The movie made a humongous 94 crores on its first day. Sreeleela played the female lead, while Thaman composed the tunes.

Guntur Kaaram collected around 1.4 million dollars from its premiers, and this is the highest for a Mahesh Babu film. But it fell short of breaking the record of Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi. The Pawan starrer, which was released in 2018, collected a phenomenal 1.5 million dollars from its USA premiers. Everyone thought Guntur Kaaram would overtake this number, but that didn’t happen.

Agnyaathavaasi still holds the record for highest USA premiers among regional films. We need to see which regional film will surpass the record set by Pawan Kalyan film. Agnyaathavaasi, which was also directed by Trivikram, had the potential of earning big in the USA, but due to disaster reviews and bad word of mouth, the movie collapsed after the premiers.
