English horror film Obsession, which created ripples at the Hollywood box office, was released in India yesterday. Made on a shoestring budget, the movie has so far earned over $100 million globally. The indie film starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette in the lead roles commenced its box office journey on a good note in India.
As per trade reports, the horror film made Rs. 1.50 crore nett on day 1, while the paid previews on Thursday night contributed another Rs. 50 lakhs nett, taking the opening-day total to Rs. 2 crores nett. Word of mouth is highly positive, with several viewers in awe of the horror elements.
Today’s bookings are witnessing a healthy surge, and this is actually a very good start for an indie horror film. The film is written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker in his theatrical directorial debut.
