Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, will hit the big screens this Thursday. Initially, many expected Jailer 2 to take a record-breaking opening for a Kollywood film, but it looks to fall short of expectations.
In Telugu especially, the advances are highly disappointing. So far, the Telugu-dubbed version has garnered only Rs. 3 crore through pre-sales, an extremely underwhelming number for a film whose first part created a rampage at the Tollywood box office.
Both domestic and overseas bookings are nowhere close to the expected levels for the Telugu version. The promotional assets and music have failed to leave an impression on Telugu moviegoers, leaving the film to rely entirely on early reports. It all depends on what Nelson has up his sleeve.
