The release of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is in limbo as the movie is yet to receive its censor certificate. The matter is currently in court, due to which the film has been pushed back from its January 9 release.

Here’s the update fans have been looking for. The Madras High Court will pronounce the judgment on January 27, 2026 (Tuesday). Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G. Arul Murugan will deliver their judgment on a writ appeal filed by the Central Board of Film Certification against Justice P.T. Asha’s order to grant a U/A 16+ certificate to the movie.

All eyes are now on the court’s verdict, based on which the new release date will be decided. Jana Nayagan is the last film of Vijay and is based on Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The Tamil version is helmed by H. Vinoth. Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol play vital roles.
