Karuppu is the biggest blockbuster in Suriya’s career, with over Rs. 300 crores gross. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama is now out on Prime Video. However, OTT audiences have pointed out poor graphics in the Singham recreation scene, with some users feeling that the digital face swap was not done perfectly.
In a recent media interaction, RJ Balaji was asked about the same, to which he replied, “It takes 8-10 months for a company to work on CG for a head replacement scene. The payment has to be made well in advance. But due to our situation, we couldn’t honour the payment deadline for the CG company. We used minimal shots for the Singam fight.”
He added, “People didn’t notice it in theatres, but I was sure they would observe it when the movie comes to OTT. I know I didn’t do a perfect job because of the constraints we had. We could have done it better; we didn’t do it better. It’s a mistake. Sorry for the underwhelming OTT experience. People are taking screen grabs and pointing out the flaws now, but I had already taken more screen grabs before the film’s release. I will improve for my next.”
