Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar was supposed to come alongside Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 on December 12, but the movie was postponed at the last minute due to financial hurdles. A case was filed against the production house, Studio Green, over past dues, resulting in the film’s postponement.

Finally, the movie cleared all the decks and is now set for Pongal release. According to the latest update, Vaa Vaathiyaar will hit the big screens on January 14, 2026. The makers dropped a new poster to mark the announcement.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Telugu version, Annagaru Vostaru, will be released simultaneously since the Tollywood box office is already packed with multiple straight films. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the movie stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead.

Annagaru Vostaru also features Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G.M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, and Vidhya Borgia in pivotal roles. Santosh Narayanan is the music composer.
