Maidaan, spearheaded by Ajay Devgn, is the biopic of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who revolutionized the sport in India. The film, directed by Amit Sharma, received glorious reviews and word of mouth, but that wasn’t reflected in the opening day numbers. The sports drama collected a meager 7.25 crores nett, including paid previews on Thursday.
With a view to making the film reach a larger section of the audience, the makers announced the BOGO offer (Buy One, Get One free), and it is live now. There are films like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which benefitted immensely from the BOGO offer. We need to see if this offer can change the tide for Maidaan at the ticket windows.
Ajay Devgn and the team are being lauded by one and all for their incredible effort, but it is also important that the movie should do good business since the costs involved are high. Let’s see how the film performs in the coming days. Priyamani played the female lead.
