In the past, we have seen several films being targeted with fake ratings on Book My Show using bots. This happened even for one of the biggest stars of Telugu cinema. Especially when multiple movies compete at the box office, the rival parties may indulge in ugly practices, intentionally bringing down other films by giving low ratings.
Later, BMS brought an update according to which only people who actually bought the ticket can give a rating. Even this was misused by a few people. Hence, the Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu team did something that no other Telugu film had done earlier to combat the online negativity. The team secured a court order, as per which ratings and reviews are disabled on the ticketing portal.
This initiative acts as a shield against bot-driven fake ratings. More films should take the same route in the future to avoid intentional downplaying and negativity, as crores of money will be at stake.
