Namit Malhotra’s tentpole film Ramayana, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is set to hit the big screens during Diwali 2026. Today, a grand event named Pratham Sankalp was held at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. The high-profile gathering witnessed a turnout of over 10,000 people, with producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari also in attendance along with the cast and crew.
Addressing the gathering, Namit Malhotra said, “We wanted to take our culture to the global stage with Ramayana. Over the last 20-30 years, I have always wondered what we lacked and what Western filmmakers possess. The Indian film industry is lagging behind Hollywood, and we aim to close that gap. Our company, DNEG, has won eight Oscars for visual effects.”
He added, “Our actors have immense zeal and talent. We were thinking of a story that could showcase our heritage to the world, and what better subject could there be than Ramayana? We didn’t want to compromise on anything. There are many versions, and we don’t want to hurt the audience’s sentiments.”
“Generally, movies are made for a specific audience, such as the youth, the elderly, men, or women. But Ramayana appeals to everyone, including believers and non-believers. We want the movie to tug at the heartstrings,” he concluded.
