Yatra, a biopic starring Malayalam stalwart Mammootty chronicling the life of former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy, released ahead of the 2019 general elections and created a huge buzz in political circles. Ever since the film’s success, a sequel to Yatra has been on the cards.
In a recent media interaction, Yatra director Mahi V Raghav revealed several key details about Yatra 2. He has confirmed that Yatra 2 will release before the 2024 general elections. The director further said that the sequel will revolve around YSR’s son and the present Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his struggles between 2009-2019.
However, Yatra 2 will not showcase YS Jagan’s reign ever since he became the Chief Minister in 2019. The director concluded saying that he is in talks with Tamil hero Jiiva to play YS Jagan’s role as no Telugu hero would dare to play YS Jagan.
