Explaining about Jr. NTR’s role in the much-anticipated Dragon, Neel stated that it was one of the difficult decisions that NTR took. The director met NTR five years ago and told him the film’s core idea.
Neel said, “It’s not because of what is there in the trailer, but due to the drama in the film. It was probably one of the biggest decisions that he had to make to play this particular role. You will know it by the end of the film. It’s a dark character. It’s probably more darker than all the characters that I have written to date. Not probably, but it is the darkest character I have penned.”
He added, “The only question that he (NTR) asked was if there was a proper reason and drama behind the actions of the character. We came up with that reasoning over the three years. It took us three years to arrive at a point to validate why this character does what he does. It is risky for a star of his magnitude to play this character. NTR just said he’s ready to play it. I am not exaggerating. You will understand when the film comes out.”
