Oscars 2026: Hollywood horror film Sinners creates history with 16 nominations

English horror film Sinners has scripted history at the 2026 Academy Awards by becoming the most-nominated movie ever at the Oscars. The film received a record 16 nominations, surpassing the previous record of 14 nominations held by classics like Titanic, All About Eve, and La La Land.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners earned nominations in several major categories, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Casting, Best Original Song, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects.

The film stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, and others in the lead roles. Sinners received positive reviews and went on to become a box office hit, earning about $370 million. All eyes are now on whether the film can convert its record-breaking nominations into major wins on Oscar night, which will take place on March 15, 2026.
