Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, has cleared all decks and is set for a grand Tamil release tomorrow. The film was finally awarded a U/A certificate after the makers agreed to 23 cuts. While the censor certificate is now out, one particular dialogue mentioned in it has triggered Telugu audiences.
The Censor Board muted the word “Goltie,” a term generally used by Tamilians in a derogatory manner to refer to Telugus. Since the director is a native Telugu speaker, the backlash has been even stronger. Telugu fans are criticizing the Parasakthi team, questioning how the makers could casually include such objectionable remarks.
On the other hand, Tamil fans feel that conclusions should not be drawn without knowing the context in which the dialogue is used and which character delivers it in the film. Parasakthi also stars Sreeleela, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa in key roles.
