Ramayana Promotions Face Backlash Over Memes Featuring Epic Characters

Everyone is eager to see how Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra present the epic Ramayana on the big screen, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash playing key roles. However, the film’s promotions have now drawn criticism from a section of audiences.

The makers shared seven memes featuring characters from the epic, but many people did not like this idea. One of the memes shows Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama crying, with the caption, “When I open the fridge and my leftovers have been eaten.” The scene is said to be an emotional one in the movie, and using it for a comedy meme has upset some viewers. This is just one example, as the makers shared seven such memes.

Many people in India consider the Ramayana sacred and believe that it actually happened. For them, using characters from the epic in comedy memes to promote a movie is not acceptable. People have been questioning this approach, especially when the film is being made on such a huge scale.

Several films have been made on the Ramayana, but the makers’ promotional strategy has now become a talking point. Some viewers feel that a film based on such an important epic should have been promoted differently. The question is whether the team will take this criticism seriously and be more careful with its upcoming promotions.

Yash is also one of the producers of Ramayana, which is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026. Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh and others are also part of the cast. Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are composing the music.
