Generally, when big-ticket Bollywood entertainers arrive, distributors try to schedule more shows for the Hindi version in South territories as well. Some major blockbusters like Dhurandhar The Revenge, Jawan, and Pathaan followed the same route.
However, the distribution strategy of Ramayana definitely comes across as surprising, with the Telugu and Kannada versions getting massive showcasing in major multiplexes. It was expected that single screens would prioritize the dubbed versions, but even high-end plexes are allocating a massive number of shows for the Telugu and Kannada versions.
Hyderabad and Bengaluru have been major contributors to Hindi cinema in the South for many years. Interestingly, the Hindi version here has been allocated almost the same number of shows as the dubbed versions. With this distribution model, Ramayana’s Hindi version is likely to lose out on some potential collections to its Telugu and Kannada versions.
