The world premiere of the Indian epic Ramayana: Rise of a Legend began this morning (IST) at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. International critics, a few Indian guests and the film’s team are seated for the screening of this grand spectacle directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
Ahead of the screening, Nitesh clarified a point about the dubbing that has been widely discussed on social media. He said Brahma AI was used only for lip-syncing, while the dubbing was done by real artists. The use of AI was intended to give the characters a more natural feel for local audiences. With the world premiere taking place in English, all eyes are now on how the epic connects with global viewers.
The screening will conclude soon, and the review embargo will be lifted on Friday. Reviews are expected to come out after that.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana. Sunny Deol will be seen as Hanuman. Kajal, Rakul and Vivek Oberoi are also part of the cast in supporting roles. Namit Malhotra and Yash have jointly produced the epic, with Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman composing the music.
The film will release across the globe on November 5, 2026, in multiple languages and formats.
