At a song launch event of Rao Bahadur, filmmaker Venkatesh Maha made a bold statement by calling Satya Dev this generation’s Kamal Haasan. Venkatesh Maha’s remarks quickly gained traction, and some people started criticizing the filmmaker for comparing the talented actor with the legendary star. In a recent interview, Satya Dev was asked about the same, and he backed his director.
“I always wanted to do at least one film with prosthetics, like how Kamal Haasan sir did for multiple movies. I manifested for it, and Rao Bahadur came my way. I always wondered how Kamal garu used to sit for five hours just for makeup. I even told this to Maha. His comparison is an expression of his admiration for me. He didn’t mean it in the wrong sense. What I understood was that he wanted to say someone arrived in the industry, drawing inspiration from Kamal sir,” said Satya Dev.
The actor added, “For any director, his hero is his Megastar. Generally, we compare anything with a superior quality to tell how good we are at something. I think it’s a form of expression out of love. Maha didn’t have any bad intentions. Directors can only create something memorable when they think their heroes are Megastars.”
