The third film from the Comrade Film Factory banner is Baapu. This dark comedy drama stars Brahmaji and Aamani in the lead roles. Directed by Daya, who also wrote the story, the movie’s teaser was digitally released by ‘National Crush’ Rashmika Mandanna.
The plot explores a troubling shift within a family, where the survival of its members depends on the sacrifice of one of their own. While the premise is undeniably dark, the film takes a surprising turn by incorporating dark humour, creating an unexpected blend of emotional depth and absurdity. This combination of tension and levity offers a fresh take on an otherwise grim situation, resulting in an unconventional yet poignant narrative.
Director Daya masterfully blends dark humour with emotional moments, and the teaser certainly heightens anticipation. The story is inspired by real-life incidents, adding a layer of authenticity to its impact. The presence of talented actors such as Brahmaji, Aamani, Sudhakar Reddy, Dhanya Balakrishna, Mani Aegurla, and Avasarala Srinivas makes the story even more compelling and engaging.
Produced by Raju and CH Bhanu Prasad Reddy, with music by RR Dhruvan, the movie is set to release in cinemas on February 21, 2025.
