Acclaimed cinematographer Ratnavelu, popularly called as Randy, has been roped in as the cinematographer for Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Lingaa. K S Ravikumar is going to direct the film and it also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka in lead roles whereas Jagapathi Babu will play an important role.
Interestingly, Ratnavelu was the cinematographer of Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai starrer Robo and for Lingaa, buzz is that Rajinikanth himself called Ratnavelu to join the crew. Talking to the media in Chennai, Ratnavelu said, “For the past seven years, I have been planning to direct my own film and that’s the reason why I turned down several offers in Telugu and Tamil. However, when Rajinikanth sir himself called me to join their team, I couldn’t say ‘no’ to him. It’s an honour to work with him.” Apparently, Lingaa is a pure commercial entertainer like Rajinikanth-KS Ravikumar’s earlier film Narasimha, which was a blockbuster and Rajinikanth is said to be extremely excited about the film.
The film’s first schedule will begin in Mysore later this month and after that it’ll be shot in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Ratnavelu had recently worked on Mahesh Babu starrer ‘1’-Nenokkadine and his work received rave reviews from everyone.
