This afternoon V. Ravi Prakash, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the multilingual television news channel TV 9, showed up at the company’s Hyderabad office, which stirred a huge discussion on social media. There were many rumors regarding Ravi Prakash’s visit that surfaced online. These rumors stated that Ravi Prakash would again be the head of the company.
Given these social media rumors, the company issued a public note to clarify and put facts in place. It is stated that the Associated Broadcasting Company Private Limited (ABCPL/TV 9) issued a notice on February 6th, 2023, for convening the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the company’s shareholders on March 2nd, 2023. It is said that the EGM was for getting the necessary approval from the shareholders regarding the merger of TV 9’s subsidiaries.
It is stated explicitly in the note that the EGM is not for the consideration of the company’s accounts and that there won’t be any inspection of accounts. It is mentioned that Ravi Prakash has been given access just to inspect the documents related to consolidation. It is apparently communicated that M/S Alanda Media holds 97% of ABCPL’s shares and that Ravi Prakash is just a minor shareholder. With this, all the rumors have been put to rest.
