Kajal Aggarwal’s social drama The India Story hit the big screens yesterday. The movie, which revolves around the harmful effects of pesticide farming, opened to dismal numbers at the box office, to say the least.
According to Sacnilk, The India Story (Hindi) registered a surprisingly low opening of Rs. 16 lakhs nett (Rs. 18 lakhs gross). The film is reportedly made on a budget of around Rs. 20 crores to Rs. 30 crores, making its opening day figure nothing short of disastrous. The India Story failed to even achieve 24-hour trending on BookMyShow.
There has been very little awareness about the film right from the beginning, and it also failed to attract walk-in audiences. The Telugu and Tamil versions have been stalled due to censor issues. Directed by Chettan DK, the movie also stars Shreyas Talpade in a key role.
