It has become quite common to blame cinema whenever a heinous crime takes place. Films are often brought into the discussion as a contributing factor behind such behaviour. Now, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reacted to a recent incident in Andhra Pradesh and hit back at those blaming cinema.
A 15-year-old Class 10 student was attacked by a 21-year-old man with a chainsaw in front of her teacher and 31 classmates. Her condition was critical, and the incident caused widespread concern. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also reacted to the incident.
Following this, many people called out filmmakers for showing excessive violence in films. Some also brought up Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movies while discussing the influence of violence in cinema.
Today, Sandeep responded to those who criticised him. He said that when such a horrific crime takes place, the first response should be empathy for the victim and an effort to understand the real problem instead of blaming cinema. He also accused some actors, directors and producers of using the tragedy to target his work and settle personal scores. He said that such incidents deserve empathy rather than being used as an opportunity to attack others.
His comments have now led to mixed reactions, with people divided over his response.
When someone commits a heinous crime, the first response should be empathy & an attempt to understand the larger problem. Not finding a convenient scapegoat in cinema.
It is becoming increasingly clear that your concern is not for the victims or their families, but that you’re using a horrific tragedy as a dirty excuse to settle your personal scores.
This is especially directed at those failed frustrated jobless male/female actors, few directors, producers & parasites, who suddenly appoint themselves as social reformers whenever an opportunity arises to take a dig at someone else’s work.A tragedy deserves empathy 🙏, not opportunism. Learn the difference.
