Thalapathy Vijay is set to bid goodbye to films with the political action drama Jana Nayagan, which is based on Balakrishna’s superhit Bhagavanth Kesari. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is slated for a grand Pongal release on January 9, 2026.
Meanwhile, from Kollywood, Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, is also gearing up for a Pongal release. Initially, the makers announced January 14 as the release date. However, according to the latest speculations, the film may advance its release.
As per strong buzz in Kollywood circles, Parasakthi might hit the screens on January 10, just a day after Jana Nayagan. With a January 14 release, Vijay’s film was expected to enjoy solid, uninterrupted momentum initially. But if Parasakthi arrives a day after Jana Nayagan, theatres would be split, resulting in a dent in collections.
If Parasakthi releases on January 10 as speculated and manages to generate positive word of mouth, it could pose a serious challenge to Thalapathy Vijay’s film. Let’s see how this Pongal clash plays out.
