Mollywood Megastar Mammootty recently came up with the crime thriller Kalamkaval, directed by newcomer Jithin K. Jose. In the film, the legendary actor played the role of a psychopath. Kalamkaval received very good reviews from both critics and audiences alike.

During its opening weekend, the movie amassed around Rs. 45 crores gross. Hence, there were expectations in trade circles that the film would surpass the Rs. 100 crores mark by the end of its theatrical run. However, by the completion of its second weekend, Kalamkaval stood only at Rs. 75 crores gross.

The movie is expected to add another Rs. 10–15 crores during the remainder of its run, and the chances of achieving the Rs. 100 crores milestone now seem ruled out.

Vinayakan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Gibin Gopinath played crucial roles, while Meera Jasmine appeared in a cameo. The film is bankrolled by Mammootty Kampany, with music composed by Mujeeb Majeed.
