A Hindi film named The Kerala Story has become a talking point ever since its trailer dropped. The movie is touted to be based on true events about thousands of women belonging to Kerala who were said to be systematically converted to Muslims and forcefully made part of terrorist organizations like ISIS. The makers say the film will depict this dangerous conspiracy against India. But the film received flak from many who cited it as a propaganda film.
A petitioner in Supreme Court made a plea seeking a stay on the film’s release. The petitioner opined that the movie is the worst kind of hate speech, and it is audio-visual propaganda. However, Supreme Court stated that as the film had already cleared the censor formalities, the petitioner must challenge its certification first.
Further Supreme Court asked the petitioner to approach the high court. The petitioner said that as the film is about to release on Friday, he approached the highest court in India. However, the court noted that this was not the correct way and that otherwise, everyone would start coming to them.
It needs to be seen what the petitioner does now. The Kerala Story stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhu Idnani in crucial roles. The movie will release in multiple languages.
