Following the unsuccessful negotiations with the protesting workers of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) over the sudden hike in their daily wages, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has called off all the film shootings in the state, starting from 27th July. The TFPC members organised a press meet yesterday to announce the same.
Speaking on the occasion, the council’s president and senior producer Kalaipuli S Thanu said, “We have been in talks for a long time. However, FEFSI members have suddenly announced hike in their salary without any intimation to producers. This has caused severe distress to all producers. Small budget producers, whose films are on the floor, are deeply affected by this decision.”
Meanwhile, the FEFSI employees stated that there has been a gross misunderstanding between them and TFPC and hoped for an early call off of the council’s strike.
