Tollywood box office: Feast or famine scenario in September 2023

Well, the postponement of Chandramukhi 2 to September 28 has just worsened things for films that are lined up for release during the end of September. Skanda, starring Ram Pothineni, has been postponed from 15th September to 28th September. This happened due to the postponement of Salaar, and team Skanda thought of cashing on the big weekend.

But with the postponement of Salaar, Kiran Abbavaram’s Rules Ranjann (Sep 28), Srikanth Addala’s Pedhakapu (Sep 29), and Sithara Entertainments’ Mad (Sep 28) were also scheduled for release at the end of this month.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s PAN Indian film The Vaccine War is also slated for a grand release on September 28. Apart from this, the Hindi film Fukrey 3 is also releasing on September 28. Fukrey 3 will have a reasonable number of shows in cities like Hyderabad, which might affect Telugu releases.

The makers tried to utilize the long weekend advantage, but now the overcrowding at the box office will undoubtedly take a toll on the collections. Interestingly, Mark Antony is the only noted release next week (September 15). Ganesh Chaturthi falls on September 18 (Monday), but sadly, only Mark Antony can enjoy the extended weekend advantage if it gets positive talk.

The even more bewildering aspect is that there are no noted releases on September 21. So, it has become a feast or famine at the Tollywood box office this month. Let’s see how all these films fare at the box office.
