What seemed unlikely until a few hours ago has now become a reality. The Telugu version of Drishyam 3 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video alongside the Malayalam and other language versions, surprising many who were following the film’s OTT release developments.
The reason for the surprise lies in the legal dispute that surfaced yesterday. Rajkumar Theatre Pvt. Ltd. approached the Madras High Court, claiming that it held the exclusive Telugu rights to the film and objected to the Telugu-dubbed version’s OTT release. The court subsequently granted an interim stay, leading to widespread speculation that the Telugu version would not be available on the platform as scheduled.
However, despite the stay order making headlines, Prime Video has launched the Telugu version along with the other language versions. As of now, there is no official clarity on what led to this unexpected turn of events, making it one of the more interesting OTT developments in recent times.
Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 sees Mohanlal return as Georgekutty in another chapter of the blockbuster thriller franchise. Backed by producer Antony Perumbavoor and featuring music by Anil Johnson, the film reunites familiar faces such as Meena, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil.
