Malayalam blockbuster Marco made its digital debut on Sony Liv a few hours ago. The film, which is hailed as one of the most violent in Indian cinema, is headlined by Unni Mukundan. Though Marco is a commercial blockbuster, many have criticized the film for its abundant violence and gory visuals. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Unni Mukundan spoke about the dosage of violence in Marco.

Unni Mukundhan said, “Violence is very much a part of our lives. If you follow the news closely, Marco didn’t even show 10% of what happens in society. I believe violence has been part of human evolution. We have achieved peace through wars. That’s the basic instinct of human nature—the survival of the fittest. Science taught us this. ”

“These are not just explanations that I am putting forward to sell the idea of violence on screen. It’s a harsh reality that violence is in and around society. I am thankful that I am not personally witnessing a lot of it. There is a huge community that is going through a lot of violence. It’s our privilege. Just because one doesn’t see violence, they cannot say it doesn’t exist,” noted Unni Mukundan.
