SS Rajamouli has teamed up with Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu for a globe-trotting action film titled Varanasi. The big-budget project is currently under production and stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles.
According to the latest update, the makers have locked April 9, 2027, as the film’s theatrical release date. The team is planning to release the film as a Sri Rama Navami special, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Apart from Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film also features prominent actors in important roles. The project is being produced by KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya and is reportedly made on a massive budget of around Rs. 1300 crore.
The teaser released earlier received a strong response across markets, highlighting the scale associated with SS Rajamouli’s films. Music for the movie is composed by MM Keeravani, while the screenplay is written by Vijayendra Prasad. The film is being shot entirely in IMAX format and will be released in multiple languages.
