The micro-budget psychological horror thriller Obsession continues to draw audiences and generate impressive box-office numbers across the globe. Made for just $7 million, the film has earned over $300 million worldwide and remains strong at the global box office.
Now, filmmaker Curry Barker, the 26-year-old director behind the breakout hit, has shared an interesting update for fans eager to see what comes next.
While Barker did not officially announce Obsession 2, he revealed that he already has a “cool idea” for a sequel. However, he made it clear that he doesn’t want to rush into making it.
In Barker’s own words: “I don’t want to go straight into Obsession 2. I have such a cool idea for it that I won’t say. I’m not saying it has to be five, six years from now. But I think people would be just as excited for it if it came a little down the road. It’s a whirlwind and I’m trying to figure it out.”
For now, the biggest mystery is what direction a sequel could take. Will Nikki (Inde Navarrette) return, or will the story evolve with a new cast and a different storyline altogether? Only time will tell.
