Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor will soon be seen in an angry young man avatar in Arjun Reddy’s Hindi remake, Kabir Singh. The film is hitting theaters on June 21 amid high expectations. Meantime, in a latest promotional interview, Shahid revealed that he had almost refused to act in Kabir Singh.

Shahid said that he had seen Arjun Reddy and met director Sandeep Reddy Vanga because he was very interested in doing the remake. Shahid went on to reveal that his only condition was that he would only do the remake if Sandeep directed it.

“I had loved Arjun Reddy so much that I felt no one else would be able to do justice to it. Arjun Reddy was such an emotional film that it needed the same person to make it again. It was not a narrative or story or plot-driven film that another filmmaker could then re-do. It was all about the emotion,” said Shahid.

Shahid further revealed that he had even refused to act in Kabir Singh when producer Murad Khetani had told him that Sandeep will not be directing the remake as he had signed another film. “But Sandeep’s film got postponed and that’s how Kabir Singh went on floors,” Shahid concluded.
