February is generally considered an off-season for Tollywood. Most filmmakers try to avoid releasing their films during this period, but star producer Naga Vamsi is taking a big risk with his upcoming release Funky, headlined by Vishwak Sen and directed by Anudeep KV.
The movie was originally supposed to arrive in April 2026, but Naga Vamsi has preponed the release to February 2026. The producer stated that he has already watched the film, loved it, and that is the reason he decided to release it early.
Naga Vamsi is bullish about his product, but his recent track record hasn’t been great. For his last film, Mass Jathara featuring Ravi Teja, the producer opted for paid premieres, a move that worked against the film big time.
This time, the early release in off-season is the gamble. It remains to be seen if this risky move will turn out to be fruitful. The teaser was very promising, and audiences hope that the film will be as entertaining as the promotional asset. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead.
