Will Ranveer Singh Apologise Again After Fresh FIR Over Kantara Daiva Mimicry as Dhurandhar Heads to Netflix?

A fresh FIR has been filed against Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru ahead of the Netflix OTT release of his new film Dhurandhar. The case pertains to his on-stage mimicry of a Daiva ritual from Kantara during the IFFI Goa closing ceremony in November 2025.

The act had earlier drawn strong backlash from sections of the Tulu-speaking community, prompting Ranveer to issue a public apology, clarifying that his intention was to appreciate the art form and not offend religious sentiments. At the time, no FIR was registered and the controversy appeared to have subsided.

The filing of the FIR in January 2026 has now revived the issue as a fresh legal development, coinciding with Dhurandhar’s digital release. With the film set to stream on Netflix, it remains to be seen whether the actor will issue another apology to avoid further escalation or allow the matter to proceed legally.
